Congratulations, Papi

Big PapiCongratulations are in order for David Ortiz, who blasted his 50th homer of the year tonight against the Twins, tying the Red Sox single season record. Unfortunately, it was in a losing effort, but if there’s any one player who carried his team this year, it would be Big Papi. Not only that, but Ortiz was a team leader, humanitarian and great guy as well. He really deserves to receive the AL MVP this season.

David Ortiz’s 2006 numbers:
.281 AVG, .404 OBP, .620 SLG in 531 AB with 28 2B, 2 3B, 50 HR, 108 RS, 130 RBI, 108 BB and 111 Ks

The New York Yankees clinched the division tonight with the Red Sox loss, and celebrated with champagne in their clubhouse. Oh well, there’s always next year.
