Sox pumped and ready to go

Guys have started showing up, and for the most part, they look to be in great condition. In particular, Jon Lester put on about 25 lbs this offseason, and Clay Buchholz added about 10 pounds of lean muscle. I generally don’t put a whole lot of stock in these “best shape of my life” quotes, but the extra muscle has to help the pitchers with their velocity a little bit. Let’s just hope that their flexibility, which is also important to pitching, is not hampered too much by such a dramatic change in weight. Lester, in particular, is someone to watch, as he lost a lot of weight last offseason due to his cancer treatment.
Manny Ramirez is also said to be working hard and will be reporting in phenomenal shape. Nothing like two $20 million contract options to motivate a guy, eh?
