Hansen recalled

It seems that the struggles of Mike Timlin and Manny Delcarmen have made an impression on the Red Sox brass. Even Hideki Okajima has been less effective this season. Despite his personal 0.71 ERA in 12 2/3 innings, Okajima has allowed 6 of 8 inherited runners to score. That’s already two more than all of 2007. It seems that the only sure thing there this season is Jonathan Papelbon.
In consideration of the state of the bullpen, the Sox have recalled reliever Craig Hansen. Since rejoining Pawtucket on April 26, Hansen has had two good outings and one not so good outing against Rochester, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk. Still, his slider is looking good, so he’ll get another shot up here.
