Trade rumors: Tavarez, Aardsma, Lopez, Lugo

ESPN’s Jayson Stark has some Red Sox rumors:
- The Brewers are also interested in Julian Tavarez, but are not quite ready to pay the price for him.
- Bartolo Colon was indeed throwing 93-94 mph and not 97 mph in his last start for Pawtucket. It was still a very good start.
- David Aardsma and Javier Lopez were also dangled, but there didn’t seem to be any takers.
- The Sox were asking for a prospect or a left-handed reliever, indicating that the front office isn’t too jazzed with Lopez as their LOOGY.
- Julio Lugo probably won’t be tradeable until after the 2008 season, despite the apparent readiness of Jed Lowrie.
And some other updates on players the Sox could have interest in:
- With Kenji Johjima signing a contract extension, he won’t be available as a free agent this off-season.
- Mark Teixeira will demand an extension that’s too rich for the Braves, and will likely be a Yankee next season. I think he’s the reason they haven’t traded for or signed any legitimate first basemen in the last year.
- Matt Holliday just isn’t willing to settle for a four-year deal in Colorado, and could be traded or become a free agent after 2009.
