With Jeff Bailey on the 15-day DL, the Sox decided to get a sneak preview of Aaron Bates, who was recently promoted to Pawtucket. He started off hot at Triple-A, but had fallen into an 0-for-29 slump when he came up. He hasn’t shown much so far, but remember that he was playing in Double-A just a month ago.
