Okajima is sixth All-Star for the Sox

Hideki Okajima was voted into the last spot on the AL All-Star roster yesterday. His selection gives the Red Sox six All Stars this year, the most of any team in either league. With a 0.88 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP on the year, he and Jonathan Papelbon have formed an deadly late-inning combination that has helped lead the Sox to a 53-31 record. He is the only relief pitcher on either team who is not a closer.

Padres pitcher Chris Young was voted into the final NL spot. You might remember that he pitched seven innings at Fenway on June 23rd, shutting out the Sox and striking out 11. His recent strong performances have really bolstered his cause.
