Clay Buchholz gets the call tomorrow

The speculation has ended: Clay Buchholz has been named the starter for the first game of tomorrow’s double-header against the Angels. He will be making his major league debut against a top team backed by Ervin Santana. It’s time to get this kid up here and see what he can do.

Jacoby Ellsbury, who has been shredding AAA pitching, will be called up and will join the active roster for game 2, sending Buchholz right back to Pawtucket. Wily Mo Pena is likely to be traded or designated for assignment to make room on the active roster.

Ellsbury is expected to be sent back down after the weekend, at which point Bobby Kielty should finally join the parent club as a reserve.
