Clay Buchholz: the “Hand of God”

There’s a great article by Carlos Gomez at the Hardball Times comparing Clay Buchholz and the Yankee’s Ian Kennedy. In it Gomez nicknames Buchholz’s devastating changeup the “Hand of God”. Has some very good analysis of pitching mechanics and the keys to success for each of these guys.

He definitely likes Buchholz better than Kennedy, but he apparently likes Kennedy better than all the scouts that have labeled him as a future #4 or #5 starter. Personally, I think Clay has Ian beat by a country mile and a half. But then, that’s me.
