Sox will pitch Wakefield in game 4

The Red Sox are going to stick with Tim Wakefield to start game 4 of the ALCS, and not bring ace Josh Beckett back on three days’ rest. I agree, this is too much of a risk for our current situation. If we were down 0-2, I might give it more consideration, but we don’t want to risk Beckett’s health unless we are in a do-or-die situation.

It would be 4 days rest. Beckett pitched Friday. Which means sat, sun, mon and tuesday.

I think it just depends on how you count it. Three days off, then throwing on the fourth day is short rest for a five-man rotation. The norm is four days resting, throwing on the fifth day.
