Youkilis’ defense is solid gold

Kevin Youkilis provided steady, error-free defense at first base throughout 2007, and was recognized with the AL Gold Glove at that position today.

I think it’s great that such a young player was given this kind of recognition; Youk follows in the steps of some pretty heady players. This is a pretty amazing achievement for a guy who just moved over to first base last season. You gotta wonder if he could have won this had the Red Sox not gone all the way this year, because that got him a lot of spotlight and national attention.

In any case, congratulations, Youk. You deserve it for all your hard work.

Coco should have won the award for outfielder also. It is sa shame no one seems to remember him.

He came close, but Grady Sizemore beat him out for that third outfield spot. It’s funny how hitting well can increase your chances at a Gold Glove, isn’t it?

It’s really bizzare how hitting influences gold glove chances. I mean, Jeter won the gold glove last year. Enough said.
