Colon impressive in minor league start

It appears that Bartolo Colon has gotten himself back into game shape sooner than expected; he threw five strong innings at Pawtucket, tossing 45 of 74 pitches for strikes and touching 95 mph on the radar gun.

Clay Buchholz is scheduled to start a game this weekend; if he falters, would we see Colon up next week? It certainly seems like a possibility. Like I’ve said before, the Sox are looking for an excuse to demote him for now. Of course, if he throws another no-hitter on Friday… Well, let’s not go there.

Buchholz was pretty solid today, but his next scheduled start is Game 1 Friday versus the Yankees. Maybe we see Colon then?
