Tavarez lands with Brewers

Julian Tavarez has joined the Milwaukee Brewers. For now, he will pitch out of their bullpen, though he will likely provide rotational insurance against injury.

Coco Crisp continues to deal with his part-time situation, to his credit. A trade won’t occur until a team steps up and is willing to pay a steeper price for Crisp.

I just saw on ESPN that Kenny Lofton is still available and eager to play. I can’t imagine why a team would want to trade for Coco when they could just give Lofton a call. Which is really too bad.

Good observation, Pat. Lofton won’t give you A+ defense, but he’ll give you good enough glove and probably 80-90% of the offense you’d get with Crisp. The only catch with Lofton is that at his age, he’s at his most effective when he DOESN’T have to play every day.
