Papi looks good in BP

Before you go getting too worked up about that 4-game lead the Rays have got in the AL East, here’s some good news for RSN: David Ortiz took live batting practice yesterday at Fenway for the first time since hitting the DL, and he looked and felt pretty good. He planted six balls into the right field stands, which is encouraging.

In another interesting note, the buzz is that Manny Ramirez can’t catch up to a fastball anymore. That’s why the Indians didn’t throw him anything else last night (his game-winning RBI single was on a fastball). Despite his .230 average and .333 SLG on heaters this season, I am not fully convinced that is the case. If it does turn out to be true, you can wave goodbye to those $20M options.

I don’t know about anyone else, but when they showed the clip of Papi swinging in BP on Nesn, everyone I was with started shouting and jumping around with joy. It was really good to see.
