Sox drop two more to Halos

Disappointing weekend for Sox fans, with the Boston lineup going down quietly in two of three in this series. We’re familiar with this from last year; enough baserunners, but not many runs. The shadow of the Nick Adenhart tragedy kind of defined this series, and I have to give my condolences to the Adenhart family and the whole organization. I thought Jered Weaver pitched his heart out in the first game for his lost friend, and I give him a lot of credit for that.

About the Josh Beckett-Bobby Abreu thing, I have to say that that was not the classiest thing Beckett ever did. Some think it happened due to Abreu’s lack of respect by calling time at the last second, others think the Angels might have been steealing signs from second. On top of whatever annoyed Beckett out there, I think it might have something to do with the fact that every time he sees Abreu up there, he sees phantom pinstripes. On one hand, everyone loves Josh because of his competitive fire, but in this case I think he got too hot too fast.

And now Beckett has been suspended for 6 games by Bud Selig for that very act. Not good. Cue Justin Masterson?

Jed Lowrie has hit the DL with a hurt wrist, leaving us with Nick Green playing shortstop and Gil Velazquez as the utility guy. Let’s hope this is not a bad sign for this year.
