Links: Proof that Ortiz is back, utilizing the Green Monster

David Ortiz’ June is completely different than the first two months of the season. It’s as if he’s a different player now. But how do we know if this means he’s back to his old self? What if this is just a hot streak in a cold year? He is still batting just .223/.317/.394 for the year… Dave Allen has his analysis, using batted ball distance from GameDay data. In short? Papi is indeed pounding the ball much harder when he makes contact. Another reason to hope.

Ever wonder if the Red Sox utilize the Green Monster better than their foes at Fenway? Allen has that covered too. Surprisingly, Wally doesn’t figure into the home team’s plan as much as I thought he might.
