Sox add Dusty Brown, Lowrie

Things are going swimmingly for the Red Sox so far in September. They are winning and players are returning to health – sort of. The Sox recalled Josh Reddick last week, and they added Dusty Brown and Jed Lowrie this week to deepen the bench and hopefully get people healthy.
But not everything is hunky dory. Tim Wakefield continues to struggle with his back and his calf, and he’s scheduled for another cortisone shot. Not good, and it is almost certain that he won’t be available in the postseason. I admire the guy for battling to pitch, but enough is enough! Let the guy rest!
Daisuke Matsuzaka also struggled in his last minor league start, and will make at least one more start with a Single-A affiliate before rejoining the team.
The Rangers aren’t giving us a lot of room to think about this yet, but here is the playoff schedule and format for this year.
