2-2-2011: Lackey’s 2nd half of 2010

R.J. Anderson points out that John Lackey had a much better second half in his first season as a Red Sox, albeit against lesser competition. This suggests that he won’t be as bad as he looked early on, and should be a solid starter for the Red Sox in a tough division.
Despite a 4.40 ERA last season, his FIP was a healthy 3.85 last year, and he definitely suffered from opponents managing a higher BABIP off of him last year. His LOB% was slightly low as well. In summary, I’d expect him to turn in a moderately better year. Our projections have him sitting at about a 4.15 ERA over 187 innings. I’ll take that in the AL East.
